In her talk Letta will share the process behind her works that combine XR, performance, video, game dev to examine the bodies behind digital personas and how machines mediate memory, identity, and agency. Letta Shtohryn will discuss her use of speculative storytelling and posthuman strategies to create embodied encounters with digital and nonhuman systems. The projects shared reflect on disinformation, AI, and machinic agency, engaging both critical theory and poetic experimentation. The talk offers a glimpse into her techno-cultural imaginaries, where ghosts, glitches, errors, and algorithms co-exist. It invites reflection on the politics of visibility, presence, and the uncanny in contemporary digital environments
Letta Shtohryn (Ukraine / EU) is an artist and researcher working with XR, CGI, machinima, video, generative AI, and video games.
Through a posthumanist lens, Letta investigates embodiment, considering the presence of non-human life forms, machines, avatars, aliens, monsters, and ghosts. Drawing inspiration from intuitive epistemologies, archaeology, history, weirdness, sci-fi and video games, she employs speculative investigations, world-building, and visual narratives to explore both factual and fictional storytelling and their effects IRL.
Letta’s project Chuly?Chuly (2024) received an Honorary Mention at the Prix Ars Electronica 2024. Her works have been showcased at Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles (FR), Deep Space 8K @ Ars Electronica Center (AT), Zinnema, Brussels (BE), Hellerau Biennale (DE), Friche la Belle de Mai (FR), Centre Pompidou (FR), Goldsmiths College, University of London (UK), Milan Machinima Festival (IT) and others
