Dampfburg, 2025
Sculpture, Installation

The work Dampfburg (2 × 3 meters wide and 2.3 meters high) functions as a sauna. The hut is made of wood and features a door and windows. Inside, there are multi-level seating areas arranged around a sauna stove. On the exterior walls of the hut, ceramics and tufted rugs are mounted. Among the ceramics are various everyday objects.

A wooden sauna is something inherently autonomous; it stands on its own and serves as a protective space — a so-called safe space where people choose to do something beneficial for themselves, both physically and mentally — something relaxing and regenerative. It creates a place where one can move freely and be naked together with others, since everyday social norms do not apply. It becomes a space of encounter that dissolves class distinctions and enables open exchange among visitors.
