Performative Installation
When we are familiar with objects, they help us find our way in spaces. What happens when these objects turn into something else that no longer serves its original purpose?As someone who came to visual arts via a background in dance, I trace my way back along this ouroboros tail, to the mouth of it all, the dance studio. Distinct floors, wooden barres, and pointe shoes seem familiar yet estranged. Their altered forms question the relationship between performance and documentation, and my own relationship to both.
